Star Trek: for finalists for the development of a tricorder

Were given to meet the 10 finalists of the Tricorders X Prize.

The finalists and candidates for the prize of 10 million now have more than twelve months to develop prototypes of tricoders that can make Diagnostics of diseases of noninvasively.

According to the BBC, the list of finalists has some big names, like the project that has the support of NASA and of the Foundation of Bill Gates, a second that is promoted by the students of the University of John Hopkins, or the startup Scanadu (image on this page), which recently showed its proposal for a tricorder on CES technologies fair.

The finalists ' proposals are far to follow to the letter the design of tricorders were celebrated in the years 1960 and 1970, with the Star Trek television series. In some cases, specialized machines are proposed in the detection of symptoms associated with the disease; but there are also those who propose the adaptation of smartphones for the same purpose.

Some health experts point out that many of the technologies that can be used in the development of the future already exist-for tricorder the challenge goes through them all in a single accommodation device.

The Tricorders X Prize aims to reward a tricorder capable of detecting human diseases 16. The device must be equipped with the necessary sensors to detect diseases such as anemia, tuberculosis and diabetes, among others.
