Benefits of Solar Energy at half the rate

Did you know you can benefit monetarily by solar panelling your home? With the steep rise in electricity cost, a major portion of your monthly income goes into heating your house and running other appliances. Solar leasing is not an unknown term to anyone these days but many don’t consider it fit for their homes and lifestyle. They don’t know what they are missing out on savings. With fossil fuels drying up and global warming snaring out its ugly head, it is high time to think about cheaper and environment –friendly alternatives.

In association with SolarCity, TXU brings to you the TXU Energy Solar Program that will not only help you generate your own electricity, but also sell the surplus electricity generated at a reasonable cost to the grid. Below are listed four facts that will help you decide whether you want to participate in the program or not:

Purchase or rent a system from SolarCity, our partner in this program. SolarLease helps you rent the system with SolarCity, designing and installing the system to your house and providing maintenance for the period of the lease. The next option is to buy the system were SolarCity will design and install it and notify you if anything malfunctions.

The main advantage of participating in the program is the benefit of buy back rates. When you solarise your house, a new meter will be installed which both will record your consumption of electricity as well as the surplus electricity you deliver to the grid. TXU will pay you 7.5 ¢ / kWh for surplus generation. The total amount you receive will depend on the size of the system and the amount of surplus energy you produce each month.

The TXU Energy Solar Program is currently available only in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, served by Oncor. The program is only available to free-standing, single family homes with sufficient south facing roofs in good condition. A high speed broadband connection is also recommended to facilitate the solar panel monitoring system.

Much of the cynical approach to solarizing their homes comes from lack of understanding how they work and the high cost of installation. But with solar leasing it is now possible to own solar panels at a fraction of the cost. SolarCity also helps you monitor the system at no extra cost and also provides performance guarantee and warranty on the system for life.

If you still have doubts you can visit TXU’s official site as well as read their FAQ page to know what kinds of lease is best for you. You can also call SolarCity and our agent will be more than happy to answer your questions.
